The Buzzards Roost trail system at Rocky Face Ridge Park in Dalton, GA, is a 10.2-mile mountain bike trail that is challenging, rocky, and offers 360-degree views from the summit. The trail is directional, with the loop portion being counter-clockwise on odd-numbered days and clockwise on even-numbered days. There are also steeper sections and switchbacks, making it intermediate to expert level. Trail characteristics Length: 10.2 miles (total system) Difficulty: Intermediate to expert, considered challenging due to rocky terrain and steep, short climbs Directional Loop: The first 1.6 miles are bi-directional. The main loop is counter-clockwise on odd-numbered days and clockwise on even-numbered days. Terrain: Rocky with frequent, punchy climbs and switchbacks. There are steep sections, and some parts can be loose. Views: The summit offers 360-degree views of surrounding mountains, including Fort Mountain, Lookout Mountain, and Dug Gap Mountain. Total Climbing: About 1300 feet on the main trail, with an additional 200 feet for the optional peak climb. Features: The park has a trailhead, restrooms, pavilions, and an interpretive trail about a Civil War battle. There are also open-air latrines along the trail.
